Product Description
Make-A-Mix is really two cookbooks in one. The cookbook begins with 67 make-ahead shortcut mixes for everything from all-purpose cake mix to meatball mix. These can be made on a weekend-or whenever there’s free time-and used to speed food preparation on busy days. The mixes are a key ingredient in one or more of the 306 recipes that follow. The kitchen-tested recipes run the gamut from breakfast dishes to after-dinner treats. They include hearty dinner entrees, like enchilada casserole, onion pot roast, and shrimp & vegetable stir-fry; international fare like green chili burritos and quick chow mein; soups and other appetizers, like New England clam chowder, and even freezer treats like fruit slush. With the Make-A-Mix method, home cooks can control the amount of sugar, salt, and preservatives in a recipe, and save money on store-bought mixes. This cookbook is the updated and expanded version of Make-A-Mix that sold over a million copies.

Book Recommendation:
The Sprouting Book by Ann Wigmore
I like this book very much because it's easy to read and covers everything I need to know. I have it in my book shelf or hand. It covers everything you need to know about Growing a Home Sprout Garden with a great Seven Jar Setup where you keep seven quart jars going with almonds, alfalfa seeds, lentils, wheatberries, mung beans, sunflower seeds, alfalfa and multi-sprout mix with different recipes included. Here is a sentence I have underlined that motivated me to learn more about sprouting, "When the experiment (curing scurvy during war) ended, with all sixty patients discharged, the physician recommended the use of sprouted beans as the easiest and cheapest method to prevent scurvy in the field." Sprout to prevent scurvy during times of famine or food shortages. Another quote: "Sprouted seeds, beans, grains, and nuts provide complete proteins--that is, they will give you all eight essential amino acids. It is best, however, to eat a variety of sprouts, as each kind has a different proportion of amino acids." I love this book! Table of Contents: From Food to Nutritious Food, Sprouting and Health, The Economics of Sprouting, Shopper's Guide to Sprouting Seeds, Growing a Home Sprout Garden, Growing Greens Indoors, Simple Recipes With Sprouts, Sprouts For Travel and For Your Pets ISBN 0-89529-246-7.
Today, my vegetable gardening booklets from the Storey Country Wisdom Bulletins that I ordered last week arrived today. I have been reviewing them and I am overwhelmed at the amount of accurate plant/gardening specific information there is inside each of each of them.

Each of these booklets is about 30 pages and within those few pages is packed with plant specific information that will make our gardens very successful without suffering through the trial and error method.
I highly recommend these booklets and at under $4.00 each they are a bargain.
The book titles I purchase this time are, (there are many more titles):
Wide Row Planting
Berries, Raspberry and Blackberry
Asparagus, Grow the best
Corn, Grow the Best
Super Salad Greens
Build Your Own Underground Root Cellar
Peppers, Grow the Best
Starting Seeds Indoors
Garlic, Growing and Using
Tomatoes, Grow the Best
Strawberries, Grow the Best
Improving Your Soil
All the Onions
This is the link for the Bulletins but by all means review there entire site.
